Gorgeous natural scenery: you're never too far from wooded mountain trails or seasonal creeks when living in Harrisonburg because it sits on 200 acres right next door to Shenandoah National Park. Once winter rolls around we get all sorts of snowshoeing opportunities nearby as well which locals love to take advantage of.

Evergreen trees and rich soil make for an excellent climate: even though it's in the northern part of the state, Harrisonburg has become a hub for perfect conditions thanks to its higher elevation which reduces humidity levels and makes summers much more tolerable- not too hot or humid. This is also one of those rare cities that you can grow fruit year round!

The Blue Ridge Mountains are right next door so hiking, biking, fishing/hunting opportunities abound; not to mention world class golf courses nearby like Shenandoah National Golf Club with 18 holes recently named one of the Top 10 golf courses in Virginia by Golf Digest.

We're home to some fantastic schools including James Madison University and Eastern Mennonite University. Our children get access to top notch education at low cost without having to drive into increasingly congested Charlottesville or Richmond. For those who choose not to go that route, there are also public elementary through high school systems here too which have seen steadily increasing test scores year after year. As well as the highly regarded Blue Ridge Community College.

Our downtown has a great mix of stores and restaurants - it's not too big, but also not so small that you can't find what you need without an hour+ long drive into Richmond or Charlottesville. We've got spas, breweries, wineries, specialty food shops, coffee shops and more!
